Sustainability

Carbon Neutral

Since 1950, 8.3 billion tons of plastic have been produced and 70% of them are ultimately being buried or leaked into the environment. Notably, if this continues, the plastic output may reach 2 billion tons each year by 2050. Disposable plastic and food packaging, accounting for 40% of all plastics produced every year, will take hundreds of years to decompose. More importantly, it can’t be fully decomposed. And most plastic packages end up in landfill sides and release greenhouse gases (Methane, Vinyl) which have adverse effects on the environment and people. Therefore, there is a need to reuse and recycle plastic to save non-renewable fossil fuels and energy as well as to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

All UN states adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 as an effort to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030. Achieving the SDGs requires the collaboration of governments, the private sector, civil society, and citizens across all industries. More and more packaging users and coffee roast companies say they plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
