Almost. When full, the difference is not noticeable. When the pack is down to the last quarter, a flat bottom holds its footprint slightly better because the base is a formed rectangle rather than a seal line. On shelf that rarely matters; in a customer's cupboard it sometimes does.
Yes, on the front or back panel. It is a common specification for coffee brands that want the square profile of a flat bottom pouch without paying for the printed base.
On a 500g pouch the side panels are typically 35–40mm wide and full height, which comfortably takes a nutrition panel, an ingredient list in two languages, or a set of certification marks. We can widen them at the design stage if you have more to fit.
Both give a squared pack. A flat bottom pouch has a folded base that opens into a rectangle and prints as a fifth panel; a quad seal has four corner seals and no folded base, so the bottom does not print. Quad seal is simpler to make and usually a little cheaper at the same capacity.
