‍Good coffee, bold ideas, and a little extra sparkle. Meet Five Ways, the Amsterdam roastery bringing its own rhythm to specialty coffee.

A Little Melbourne in Amsterdam

Amsterdam knows a thing or two about good coffee. So does Melbourne. Five Ways brings a little of both to the table.

Founded in 2017, Five Ways Coffee Roasters grew out of a love for quality coffee, creative thinking, and the easygoing hospitality of Australia's café culture.

Team of Five Ways

Co-founder Ben Kozica-O'Callaghan brought his Melbourne coffee background to Amsterdam, where a short visit eventually turned into a much longer stay. Years later, that connection helped shape a coffee business with its own distinctive personality.

Today, Five Ways operates two cafés in Amsterdam, serving freshly roasted coffee alongside the friendly atmosphere that has become part of its identity.

Behind the scenes, the team works with trusted importers and coffee producers, focusing on transparency and quality from sourcing to roasting. Using a Loring S35 roaster, Five Ways roasts its coffees weekly, keeping freshness at the heart of the experience.

The result is a coffee brand that takes its craft seriously and leaves plenty of room for fun.

Coffee with a Soundtrack

Take a look at the Five Ways coffee menu, and you'll quickly get a sense of its personality.

There's Moves Like Jagger, a Brazilian espresso with a name borrowed from the dance floor. Then comes Da Bomb, an Ethiopian coffee with fruity tasting notes and plenty of attitude. Names like Fruit Juice and Purple Rain add even more colour to the collection.

Each coffee has its own origin, processing method, and flavour profile. Some are made for a comforting morning espresso, while others invite drinkers to explore something a little more adventurous.

This sense of variety extends throughout the Five Ways experience. From its cafés to its merchandise and coffee packaging, the brand embraces a playful, contemporary style with a distinctly Amsterdam edge.

There's a certain charm to a roastery that can talk seriously about coffee fermentation and still have a little fun naming the beans.

Dressed in Black, Ready to Shine

Five Ways has always had a strong eye for presentation.

Its familiar coffee bags pair matte black surfaces with gold lettering, clean product labels, and striking black-and-white patterns. The look is confident and straightforward, giving each coffee room to express its own character.

Then there's the holographic packaging.

With an iridescent surface that shifts between blue, pink, purple, and green as the light moves, the bag brings a completely different energy to the collection.

Pick it up, turn it slightly, and the colours change. Under bright light, the surface almost comes alive.

The bold FIVE WAYS logo sits against the shimmering background, keeping the brand instantly recognisable. Embossed details introduce another layer of texture, making the packaging as interesting to touch as it is to look at.

It's a playful combination of light, colour, and material, perfectly suited to a coffee brand with a taste for doing things its own way.

A Little Magic in the Making

Of course, getting that shimmer just right takes some work.

Holographic packaging introduces a different set of considerations to conventional printed coffee bags. The reflective surface interacts with light, while printed graphics and embossed elements need to remain clear and consistent throughout production.

Every detail contributes to the finished result, from the positioning of the artwork to the texture and appearance of the surface.

For the Five Ways packaging produced by Holden Pak, holographic foil and embossed finishing bring the design together. The production process combines careful printing and finishing with the practical requirements of a coffee bag.

The result is a package that catches the eye from across a shelf and reveals new details up close.

And while the colours may steal the spotlight, the bag still has an everyday job to do: hold freshly roasted coffee, keep it protected, and travel from the roastery to the hands of someone ready for their next cup.

It's a satisfying meeting of creative ambition and practical packaging.

Keeping Things Fresh

There's a refreshing sense of freedom in the way Five Ways approaches its brand.

The coffee selection changes with the seasons. The names have personality. The packaging explores different finishes and textures, from understated matte black to full-on holographic shine.

That creative energy sits alongside a clear commitment to coffee quality and responsible sourcing.

Five Ways also places sustainability among its priorities, exploring packaging and logistics solutions that help reduce its environmental footprint.

As the brand continues to grow, its visual identity gives it plenty of space to experiment while maintaining a familiar character.

Whether it's a new coffee, an unexpected design detail, or a bag that changes colour in the sunlight, there's always something new to discover.

Here's to a Little More Shine

From Melbourne-inspired hospitality to Amsterdam-roasted coffee, Five Ways has built a brand full of character, curiosity, and good energy.

Its holographic packaging captures that spirit beautifully. A little colour, a little texture, and plenty of personality make the everyday ritual of coffee feel even more enjoyable.

At Holden Pak, we're glad to have helped bring the Five Ways packaging to life, turning its creative vision into finished coffee bags ready to shine.
